OUR RPOCESS

ORDER

Voice your needs: what you want visualized or modeled, why you need it, what message you want to bring through, and how or where you’re going to use the visuals. A room interior visual is done to present your design concept, and the concept should convey some specific mood and feel. Tell us about it so we can properly conjure up your vision! Product range renderings might be aimed for website catalogue use, but further you will want them printed in a collateral – share the idea with us, and we shall adapt the 3D product to your purposes. Of course, a picture is worth a thousand words, and while you yet do not have the visuals to show, animation or an interactive tool you’ve seen somewhere, a rendering style you like – all these samples help us understand your requirements better. Of course, drawings, sketches, photos, moodboards – anything that describes your actual product are very welcome not only on production, but also on order stage.

SOLUTION

Account or sales managers will forward your request to appropriate production team, where it will be thoroughly analyzed. We have to understand your concept/product up to the minutest detail as well as the process needed to produce it, and we shall present our conclusions in the form of a proposal document. There you will see: detailed description of work to make sure we are on the same page, product characteristics (e.g. resolution or print size) and quality references from our previous works, suggested production schedule, budget break-down, and other possible solutions that 3D technology allows us to easily create for you on the basis of the same model. Usually, it takes a day for us to come up with the proposal document, but we also might require additional information from you, thus, allowing another day for possible questions.

PRODUCTION

Modeling: a virtual mock-up is built on the basis of your input. It’s like a digital scale model or prototype. Time and effort here depend on the geometry (classics ought to take more time than modern style) and level of detail (e.g. one of our clients requires all the elements bigger than 0,2 mm to be modeled for their products). Texturing and mapping: pictures of actual materials are created from your input photos and finish qualities are assigned according to your instructions. All of these are later applied to the proper surfaces, adding color and texture to the model. Lighting: artist sets up the software to render specific kind of light. Ideally, we are trying to make it as close to reality as possible, but can also go for studio lighting. Rendering: it’s a machine process of creating images from the 3D model. It can take from a few hours for a simple still rendering, to weeks for a longer animation, where each second consists of 25 still renderings. Other factors that influence render time are resolution and material qualities (reflective or fluffy render longer than simple paint). Post production: here we either compile animation, add some glamour to the renderings look, or insert people into still renderings.

REVIEW

For architectural visualization projects we usually make 2-3 intermediary deliverables that you can review and comment on. If it’s an animation project, you will separately receive still rendering previews to review architecture, design, lighting, style and mood, and separately a draft movie (no textures and colors, no lighting) that shows the animation path/camera movement. It helps to save on the render time, and only for the final delivery the animation will be rendered. For product visuals you usually review in detail the first product (style, studio light, level of detail are agreed on), and all the next products should be done according to this initial reference. Of course, there is always a possibility to voice your criticism and correct mistakes if such should occur.

DELIVERY

It’s important to remember that after you approve of previews and before Visco can deliver the finals some time has to be allowed for rendering and post-production. It might take a day or two for still renderings and from four days to a few weeks for animations. In order to get the final product that suits your purpose, remember to specify the characteristics of the final visuals like resolution, print size, a.o. at order stage.
